Stacking The Shelves [09]: September Haul

Stacking The Shelves is a feature hosted by Tynga’s Reviews . It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Time for another stacking the shelves! And this month, I am utterly pleased with my haul even though I wasn’t able to go to Manila International Book Fair. It was sad and I thought I won’t have a single book haul for this month. But good things happened and so I grasp the opportunity with a vengeance. lol
Here’s my haul for this month. I didn’t expect to get 10 books but look at these! And guess what, I didn’t spend a single penny on these babies. Yes! You read it right. Got all these for free and it was totally awesomesauce!!! How?

First, my good friend Rafael, from The Royal Polar Bear Reads gave me The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa. Thanks as always, Raf! Hella generous fella! *virtual hug*

Second, my prize from a Twitter giveaway hosted Danielle L. Jensen, the author of one of my recent favorite high fantasy novel Stolen Songbird, has finally arrived after three epic months of waiting. But it’s all worth it! I got Hidden Huntress by Danielle L. Jensen, herself, the book 2 of the Malediction trilogy. It was signed, of course! And yep, so now, I have 2 copies of Hidden Huntress. And I dunno, might give the other one away if I won’t be able to sell it before the release of the final book.

Lastly, I won the freakin’ awesome #MyFaveBookMySelfie2015 contest on Instagram hosted by National Bookstore!!! Like, FINALLY!!! After several tries, it finally happened to me and I couldn’t be happier! What’s the prize? It’s PHP2500 (around $50) worth of gift certificate that can be used on any National Bookstore branches.  (click HERE for the contest info.) And what’s more awesome was that during the time I won, it was the annual NBS Cut Price Sale. Yes, so they cut most (if not all) international novels 10%, 20% and up to 50% off!!! So I was soooo hyped to go get my prize and do helluva book shopping! Here are the books I bought using my gift certificate:

– The Invasion of The Tearling by Erika Johansen
– Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
– The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg
– To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
– PS, I Still Love You by Jenny Han
– The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
– Savor by Kate Evangelist
and three back issues my favorite local graphic novels of Black Ink Shortcuts by various authors/artists

September is a book haul month for Filipino bookworms because of the consecutive dates of MIBF and the NBS Cut Price Sale. I love Septembers! *dance party*

Best,
