Alice had her whole summer planned. Non-stop all-you-can-eat buffets while marathoning her favorite TV shows (best friends totally included) with the smallest dash of adulting–working at the library to pay her share of the rent. The only thing missing from her perfect plan? Her girlfriend (who ended things when Alice confessed she’s asexual). Alice is done with dating–no thank you, do not pass go, stick a fork in her, done.

But then Alice meets Takumi and she can’t stop thinking about him or the rom com-grade romance feels she did not ask for (uncertainty, butterflies, and swoons, oh my!).

When her blissful summer takes an unexpected turn, and Takumi becomes her knight with a shiny library employee badge (close enough), Alice has to decide if she’s willing to risk their friendship for a love that might not be reciprocated—or understood.

REVIEW

Disclaimer: I received an ARC from Swoon Reads and Xpresso Book Tours as part of Let’s Talk About Love Blog Tour. This does not affect my opinion of the book.

This a breath of fresh air.

One of my 2018 reading goals is to read more diverse and “own voices” books. This is my first diverse book of 2018, and my 2nd read since the year has started. I am just so glad that I picked this book up, and became part of the tour.

What made me pick Let’s Talk About Love?

I have never read a book that focuses and talks about biromanticality and asexuality. Heck, I didn’t even know the meaning of these words until I joined this tour. That’s how clueless and ignorant I am, and I somehow felt bad about it.

This book is an eye-opener at some level for me. It’s not just about that book that will make us swoon because of the overly cute scenes between the MC and her beau (which by the way, they are very cute okay). It’s that book that makes you realize a lot of things that you don’t know about the world, or people in general.

I am fairly new to the concept of biromanticality and asexuality, so not only this book got me truly entertained, it has also taught me, and encouraged me to learn more about topics like these.

Let’s talk about diversity

This is a story about a biromantic asexual black woman, Alice. She met Takumi, a Japanese guy, on her workplace at the library. These two main characters are very diverse, and not to mention, has an incredibly cute chemistry together.

The book didn’t really start so well with me. At first, I didn’t think that the two would ever click together. It just felt somewhat off. But as more and more interactions happen, the more I see myself grinning from ear to ear with their time together.

Final verdict

I don’t even know how to write this review even after I have already collected myself hours after finishing the book. So, I’ll just make my review short.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and if you’re looking for a book that has an asexual MC, and has a lot of diversity going on, this book is for you.
